Guess the Number

How big, how long, how much? Put a number on it.

How to play & scoring

Estimate the statistic in the displayed unit. Your result shows how far your estimate is from the actual value as a percentage. Lower is better.

Worked example

If the recorded value is 80 and you estimate 100, the difference is 20. Divide 20 by the recorded 80 to get 25% error. Estimating 60 also gives 25% error; an exact 80 gives zero.

Examples illustrate the rules. They are not real country statistics or answers to your round.

What to watch for

Check the unit before entering a number. A percentage, a count and a value expressed in thousands require different estimates. Percentage error measures the size of your miss relative to the actual value.
