Rank Guess

Five countries. Five categories. Find their place in the world.

How to play & scoring

Assign one country to each category, then guess its global rank. Your result is the total ranks away across five guesses. Lower is better; zero is perfect.

Worked example

A guess of rank 20 for a country actually ranked 14 adds six ranks of error. If your five errors are 6, 0, 3, 10 and 1, your final result is 20 ranks away. A perfect round totals zero.

Examples illustrate the rules. They are not real country statistics or answers to your round.

What to watch for

Check how many countries have data before estimating a position. Think in broad bands first, then narrow your guess. Being ten places too high and ten places too low has the same cost.
